Jay and Kristy Starnes grew up on horses, so it is no surprise that both of them became professional horse trainers at a very young age. Each had very successful youth and amateur careers before entering the professional arena.

homepage-jayIn 2004, Jay gave up his non pro card after training under some of the best in the country. As a non pro, Jay produced some of the best pleasure horses in the industry. Horses such as: A Flashy Chip (multiple Superior), Talkin Politely (2 X Congress Champion), RL Just One Blaze (3 X Congress Champion, AQHA World Champion) and Blondes Are Hot (Res. Congress Champion, Superior WP Mare).

In 2007, Kristy followed suite and gave up her card as well. During her time as a non pro, Kristy had her share of success with horses such as: Top Cash Advantage (Congress Champion), Once In A Blue Moon (Res. World Champion, Congress Champion), Good Naturally (Res. Congress Champion), Too Blue To Be True (2x Congress Champion, Res World Champion), Bring Me The Heat (Congress Champion HUS), and Hot Sweet N Southern (NSBA World Champion).

Once they entered the leagues of professional training Jay & Kristy have helped shape the careers of such horses as I Like Hot Chips (AQHA World Champion & Congress Champion), Hot Lopin Louise (3 X Congress Champion, NSBA Horse of Year 2005), Flashy Looking Lady (Congress Masters $100,000 WP Champion), Rode Rageous (Reichert $250,000 Challenge Champion, NSBA World Champion), Hot Lopin Machine (Reichert $250,000 Challenge Champion), Good Addiction (Res. Congress Champion, NSBA World Champion), Only Rave Reviews (Res. Congress Masters WP Champion), Al Wana Be First (Res. Congress Champion & Res. NSBA World Champion), Ms Machine (NSBA World Champion, Res. Congress Champion, Southern Belle $26,000 Winner), Hes All The Rage (NSBA World Champion, Res. Congress Champion) & Cowboys R Hot (NSBA World Champion).

In December 2005, Jay & Kristy moved to their current location on over 50 acres in Manning, South Carolina. homepage-kristy The entire facility, which was originally cattle pastures, was designed and built by the Starnes’ to meet the specific needs of a state of the art training facility. The farm boasts a 20 stall heated show barn with two heated wash racks, tack room, multiple storage rooms and office. Several large pastures with run-in sheds, two turn-out lots for show horses, hay & horse trailer storage shed, 6 horse Drover Horse Walker, 60’ round pen and 120’ x 200’ riding arena are some of the many amenities available.

Jay & Kristy have come a long way from their beginnings at local open horse shows and backyard riding. With the help of their clients, friends and family they hope to go even farther. The Starnes’ welcomed their first child, Logan Ryan Starnes in January 2010.  And if history repeats itself as they say, this little cowboy has a bright future ahead of himself!
